Water and Wilderness

Snake Road, Broward/Hendry Counties

canal
A canal along Snake Road just north of the Interstate 75 interchange. Canals parallel each side of Snake Road, but this area caught our eye because of the general "wildness" of the surroundings and the potential for the presence of wildlife and wild flowers. There's plenty of space to pull off the road safely and walk around and explore a bit. Note the cypress dome in the background, center right. Big Cypress National Preserve is not far in the distance, and the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area is about two miles to the east.
