Two small, blackwater tributaries of Limestone Creek still flow through parts of Limestone Creek Natural Area. This bridge, we think, passes over one of them. The trail eventually leads to Island Way and a bridge that takes traffic over the Loxahatchee River. Hikers can use the bridge to cross over to opposite bank of the Loxahatchee. By the way, the term blackwater refers to the color of the water, darkened by tannins in the leaves that fall into it. Despite the name, it's considered "clean" water. In any case, this is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a few minutes of peace.
