The Lovely Loxahatchee River

Limestone Creek Natural Area, Jupiter, Palm Beach County

loxahatchee river
No, not that Loxahatchee, the federally designated Wild and Scenic River. This is the Southwest Fork of the Loxahatchee River only a few hundred yards, if that, from where the C-18 canal ends and feeds its waters into it. We're guessing the river didn't look quite this pristine a couple of decades ago when Limestone Creek Natural Area was conceived. The construction of the C-18 greatly altered the hydrology, or natural water flow, of Northern Palm Beach County and killed off Limestone Creek in the process.
