Grassy Waters Preserve, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County

This is the view from the end of the boardwalk. Grassy Waters was once part of the northern Everglades as well as part of the Loxahatchee River watershed. Those direct connections are gone because of the network of canals built and subsequent development over the last century or so, But standing here, one can imagine a vast expanse of prairies, marshes and swamps going on and on all the way to Florida Bay.
