Swamps and Micro Climates

J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area — Hungryland Boardwalk and Trail, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County

Swamps get a bad name, a place to be drained, but they are vital places, playing vital roles in cleaning and recharging our ground water supply. Their canopy and humidity create micro climates, the perfect environment for a variety of airplants, orchids and ferns to grow. The canopy keeps out the sun's heat, while holding it at night. The Cypress Swamp Boardwalk provides a perfect opportunity to experience the swamp first hand while keeping your feet dry.
