Directly across from the marsh basin is a second marsh, this one deliberately dug shallower than the other so as to be seasonally wet rather than year round. The plant community is different and denser; there is no open water. The idea was to recreate as much as possible the habitats that once naturally existed here — Photo by David Sedore
