A Sand Pine Sanctuary

Seabranch Preserve State Park, Stuart, Martin County

Sand Pines
We came across this rather dense stand of sand pines as we neared the end of our hike in 2024. We found it full of warblers and other small birds taking refuge among the thick branches, the perfect place to rest and feed for the long journey north. Unfortunately we were nearing empty on both energy and time when we reached this point, so we didn't make a serious attempt to photograph the denizens. In any case, it's a beautiful spot. Next time.
