End of the (Blue Heron) Trail

Royal Palm Beah Pines Natural Area, Royal Palm Beach, Palm Beach County

observation platform
A short boardwalk and an observation platform mark the end of the ADA accessible Blue Heron Trail. The trail itself is short, less than 900 feet long, but there is a bounty of wildflowers along its path. Of course, what you'll see will vary by the season. The observation platform offers a shaded spot to sit and relax while taking in the surrounding wet meadow and pine flatwoods. The great blue heron shown in the gallery on the main page was photographed from this trail, appropriately enough. We've also seen a variety of woodpeckers, cardinals, mockingbirds, blue jays and others, here.
