A Swampy Island

The best way to describe Daggerwing is as a swampy island. It's a cypress swamp surrounded by open water, almost moat like. This photo, shot from behind the nature center building, shows the lake and, directly ahead, the area where the boardwalk runs through. Water wraps around the area to the left and right, narrowing at the boardwalk but opening up again. The back of the building, by the way, has a feeder, bird bath and a small fountain for birds and butterflies — Photo by David Sedore.
