Magnificent Vistas: Cypress Swamps

Apoxee Trail, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County

cypress swamps
Vistas like this — open water and cypress swamps — are common along the Apoxee Trail. Look for osprey and snail kites in the trees. Along the water's edge look for yellow flowers poking a foot or so above the surface. These are carnivorous bladderworts. Oh and keep an eye out for really dangerous carnivores, like alligators. This is Florida, after all.
