Okeeheelee's slash pines provide habitat for cardinals, bluejays, woodpeckers and other birds. These trees lie along the banks of the East Marsh and provide a buffer between the nature center and the rest of Okeeheelee Park. Much of Okeeheelee is pine flatwoods, as pictured above, with saw palmetto, wild coffee, inkberry, greenbriar and poison ivy, lots of poison ivy, in the understory.
